In October, a team of five over thirteen year old Scouts competed in the District night hike 'Stag Trophy' competition. The team hiked during the night, completing various challenges along the way. The hike was followed by judging of camping and cooking standards. The team had a great time, learning skills and secured an eleventh victory for the 9th in this competition.

During September and October, the Scout section have been working to achieve their Mechanic's badge. The Scouts have learnt the basics of an internal combustion engine, how to change car light bulbs, MOT requirements and how to change a tyre. Everyone has enjoyed this badge, albeit that the dark nights have required some improvised torch lighting!

In March, our older Scouts were invited to attend the Mayors 'Community reception' at City Hall. . The reception was attended by charities, veterans, volunteers, foster parents & youth groups. Our Young people behaved impeccably and met Mayor Borris and the Deputy Mayor of London.

In February, our Beaver section visited Biggin Hill Airport. The Beavers enjoyed activities including a tour of the airfield, sitting in a light aircraft, having a go in the flight simulator and learning the importance of airfield safety. More pictures are available on our 'SKOWT' web space. This was the final stage of the Beavers 'Air Activities' badge. |
In October 2010, A team of over 13 year old scouts completed the district Stag trophy Competition. This involved hiking 8 miles through the night in open countryside using map and compass skills, completing various incident challenges along the way. In the morning, the Scouts had to prepare and cook breakfast, followed by a camping inspection.
Well done to all for completing the challenge, and first place was the icing on the cake. |
Our new ‘SKOWT’ website puts the emphasis on safe and secure communication between Leaders, Members and Parents. We are all aware of the potential dangers our youngsters face when communicating online. As Leaders and Parents we want to make sure that young members are protected and that their information can only be seen by the people we want to see it. Our new site features photo sharing, messaging, calendars and document sharing.
